Position Summary:

Gateway House of Peace (GWHP) seeks a compassionate, driven, and visionary Executive Director to lead and oversee the daily operations and long-term strategy of our organization. In partnership with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for overall administration, program development and execution, staff and volunteer oversight, fundraising, community outreach, and ensuring that the mission of GWHP is reflected in every aspect of care and service delivery.

As the face of the organization, the Executive Director will promote a culture of excellence, compassion, and collaboration. This individual will be accountable for both the internal management of the home and external relations with donors, partners, and the broader community.

About Gateway House of Peace:

Gateway House of Peace is a non-profit community support home for end-of-life care, dedicated to providing comfort and dignity to individuals in their final days. Through a combination of compassionate staff, dedicated volunteers, and generous community support, GWHP creates a home-like environment where residents and their families receive holistic and loving care.

Primary Responsibilities:

Leadership & Administration

  • Provide strategic leadership to the organization while aligning daily operations with the mission, vision, and values of Gateway House of Peace.

  • Supervise and support all staff, including care and administrative personnel, to ensure high standards of care and operational efficiency.

  • Oversee all aspects of day-to-day home operations, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.

  • Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors, providing regular updates on operations, finances, challenges, and opportunities.

Human Resources & Staff Development

  • In collaboration with the Care Manager and the Board, develop and maintain organizational policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for hiring, onboarding, training, evaluating, and, when necessary, the termination of staff.

  • Promote a supportive and respectful workplace culture, emphasizing professional development and teamwork.

  • Assist in the creation and implementation of training programs for staff and volunteers.

Fundraising & Financial Oversight

  • Lead and execute development initiatives, including researching and securing grant opportunities.

  • Support fundraising strategies in partnership with the Board of Directors, including donor cultivation, special events, and major gift solicitations.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors, community partners, and stakeholders.

  • Participate in the development of the annual budget and long-term financial planning, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.

Community Engagement & Public Relations

  • Serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for Gateway House of Peace.

  • Promote the organization through strategic public relations efforts, including outreach events, presentations, media engagement, and digital communications (including social media).

  • Strengthen and develop partnerships with local organizations, businesses, healthcare providers, and other community groups to enhance awareness and support of GWHP.

Volunteer Engagement

  • Support recruitment, orientation, and retention of volunteers.

  • Foster a welcoming, respectful, and mission-focused environment for all volunteers.

Governance

  • Attend monthly Board of Directors meetings and provide regular operational and financial updates.

  • Collaborate with Board committees to ensure effective governance and support of organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a nonprofit, hospice, or healthcare setting.

  • Proven experience in fundraising, CRM software, grant writing, and donor relations.

  • Strong background in organizational leadership, financial oversight, and staff supervision.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.

  • Passion for hospice and end-of-life care; commitment to mission-driven service.
