Part-Time Care Manager - Comfort Care Home
Gateway House of Peace is seeking a compassionate, experienced leader to serve as our Part-Time Care Manager in Ballston Spa, New York.
Gateway House of Peace is a two-bed comfort care home that provides a safe, peaceful, and caring residence for terminally ill individuals during their final days. We offer care at no cost to residents or their families.
Position Overview
The Care Manager oversees resident care, daily house operations, caregiver staffing, and volunteer coordination. This position combines management responsibilities with hands-on care to ensure that residents receive compassionate, dignified support.
The ideal candidate has experience in healthcare, direct patient care, and staff management. This role requires excellent communication, collaboration, scheduling, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Manage staffing coverage, including weekends, holidays, call-offs, and on-call needs.
Interview prospective residents and their families and make placement recommendations to the Executive Director.
Schedule and coordinate resident admissions.
Work closely with hospice providers to facilitate each resident's care.
Communicate with staff and family members regarding residents' health and changing care needs.
Maintain accurate records of resident-related communications.
Monitor prescription counts and ensure medication logs are completed correctly.
Participate in staff recruitment, conduct interviews, and provide hiring recommendations to the Executive Director.
Screen prospective volunteers in partnership with the Volunteer Coordinator.
Coordinate student programs with the Volunteer Coordinator.
Train and develop staff and volunteers, including onboarding, annual training, and maintenance of training records.
Conduct periodic staff meetings.
Address staff concerns and advise the Executive Director regarding disciplinary matters.
Complete annual staff evaluations.
Provide direct resident care when needed.
Maintain productive relationships with families, hospice providers, volunteers, and other community partners and stakeholders.
Qualifications
At least two years of staff management experience.
At least one year of hands-on patient care experience.
Experience with caregiving, staff supervision, and scheduling.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and collaboration skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Ability to travel locally on occasion.
Ability to maintain a flexible schedule and be on call.
Reliable transportation and the ability to commute to Ballston Spa.
Successful completion of a background check.
